Angela Buccinni Butch is the founder and director of The Muse Brooklyn and it’s professional in-house performance company ABCirque.
Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Angela attended the Boston Conservatory where she was awarded the Jan Veen scholarship and the Juline Ince Thompson scholarship for choreography. Through her studies at the Conservatory, Angela performed works by Jose Limon, Martha Graham, Murray Lewis, and created her own works which were performed for artists such as Yoyo Ma. After receiving her BFA in 2006, Angela moved to New York City where she successfully pursued a career in acrobatics and circus artists. She kept one toe on the ground dancing with Tribe of Human, The Chase Brock Experience, and got air-time with the Brooklyn-based, "PopAction" dance company STREB.
Angela specializes in H2H acrobatics, aerial arts, bull whip, and fire performances. Her company credits include: Fuerza Bruta NYC and international tour, Wayra NYC, Radio City Spring Spectacular, Phoenix Entertainment NYC, featured aerialist and co-choreographer in the Off-Broadway production of Caligula Maximus NYC, Grounded Aerial, the world tour of The Aluminum Show, Cirqutacular's "Circurious," Helium Entertainment, Pilobolous, Circus y, Bordel Total and Pyromania Show.
In addition to her busy performance career, Angela founded The Muse Brooklyn, a unique artist collective and circus based community, in 2011. The Muse offers a wide variety of classes, private lessons, open training space for professionals, and also hosts a number of events. The Muse is now residing in it’s third and largest home yet, as it has traveled from Williamsburg to Bushwick in 2015. It was this same year that Angela founded ABCirque.
ABCirque is a contemporary circus company that specializes in immersive performances; breaking the fourth wall and keeping the audience on their toes. As founder and director of ABCirque, Angela has choregraphed many shows for the company such as “Different Trains,” “Petroushka,” “Symphonie Fantastique,” “Cordis” and more. Many of these shows are accompanied by live musicians. In addition to these modern performances, Angela has directed/ choreographed entertainment for well-known corporate companies such as Bloomingdales, Swarovski, and Nike.
